The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the appointment of Honour Okorie Asita as a running mate to the All Progressives Congress,

APC 'imposed' Governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside has confirmed that there is no other reason for the appointment of the two candidates by Governor Chibuike Amaechi than to protect his business interests and shady deals.

The party in a statement by the State Chairman, Bro. Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said both Okorie Asita, Dakuku Peterside and Governor Amaechi were members of the same cult during their school days.

"The PDP believes that if Amaechi had no ulterior motive in the two appointments, he would have realized that Asita O. Asita is not the best and proper candidate to be so appointed from the Ahoada axis of the Rivers West Senatorial District"

Asita’s appointment, the PDP notes is an insult to the Engenni people and Ahoada West having represented the area for too long with nothing to show for it.

"It’s regrettable that Governor Amaechi could not see any other person from the area to be so chosen other than a particular person (Asita Asita) who has held political office for 15 consecutive years, having served as a two time Council Chairman for Ahoada West, Special Adviser (SA) to former Governor Peter Odili, former State Commissioner in addition to the eight years he has spent in the Federal House of Repsresentatives.
Also in 2007, same Asita Asita ensured that his nephews, Miler Awori and Wanaka Okpokiri were elected as Council Chairman and Deputy Council Chairman respectively.

"This is the height of inconsiderateness for others”, the PDP added.
